How are the two schools different?

The two schools are very different. there is the obvious difference that one is a high school and the other is a private college, another is private and public school.

Audre Lorde illustration practice

"Mrs. Baker read me Madeline and Horton Hatches the Egg, both of which rhymed and had huge lovely pictures which I could see from behind my newly acquired eyeglasses, fastened around the back of my rambunctious head by a black elastic band running from earpiece to earpiece."

Pick a sentence and copy it down and use the syntax and word types to create your own.

The Teacher explained the requirements of the second paper, which requires a thesis and examples that can illustrate the role the teachers play, from previous experiences, that you have had from school to.

Pick a sentence from another paragraph and use it to create your own using their syntax.

Franklin
"A question was once, somehow or another, started between Collins and me, of the propriety of educating the female sex in learning, and their ability to study."

A disagreement, one way or another, arose among  two groups, about the influence of violent video games, and how it influences kids.

Stand and Deliver Notes

The school was having trouble with their accreditation going to be canceled if they could not improve test scores. being a school filled with a minority it had a bad reputation to begin with.

The students faced obstacles: with personal problems and family issues and looking for work. There was few people who believed they could do anything more than basic jobs.

The teacher faced obstacles, with uncooperative students at first. being in a bad neighborhood where his car was broken into and the stress he put himself under.

notes
concluding statement
what ways Mr.Escalante a good teacher and what ways he was a bad teacher
Escalante was a good teacher with how he pushed the students to succeed when everyone had already given up on them. one argument that Mr. Escalante was a bad teacher was when he didn’t pay attention to what the students had to say sometimes.

Malcom X's "Learning to read" and Unit 1

When I read the excerpt from The Autobiography of Malcolm X "Learning to read" I noticed relations between Malcolm X’s autobiography and the first unit.

Malcolm X’s writes how he was frustrated with his poor writing skills and so he decided to improve his skills by practicing his writing and learn new words.

When his skills in reading and writing improved Malcolm X was able to understand what was in books and a whole new world was opened to him. This is similar to Joshua in "How I Learned to Live Google-free" when he saw all of the other alternative search engines available to him instead of Google.

Malcolm X’s readings led him to the ignorance of the history of slavery in America. In "How I Learned to Live Google-free" Joshua talks about how people are ignorant of the other options instead of Google products  due to the convenience that was provided.

important educational experience from your life.

Cubing!

Compare It: what is it similar to

Confetti is like snow or rain even ash it is like several things that are associated with falling from the sky. there are comparisons euphemisms like candy pops out of a pinata like confetti or money falls out of the sky like confetti it fell out of the sky like confetti. confetti is paired with parties or joy even pranks. it is easy to make confetti and it can be bought in many places confetti can compare to a burst of color. or with surprise. confetti is not like other party favors there is little control over it. you either release it or you don't but its hard to make confetti land in specific areas. confetti is associated with randomness. confetti can be related to ...
confetti is colored or uncolored paper in tiny shapes.confetti can be many shapes and sizes.
confetti can be large or small. There are several things like confetti. confetti is messy compared to other party favors.confetti is like a firework. confetti can be used to play checkers on a checkerboard like surface. confetti is similar to explosion.

Associate it: what can it be related it or connect it to

Swimsuits are related to many things. one is clothing and the protection it provides?... swimsuits can be connected to beaches and pools. swimsuits can be connected to fashion with swimsuit models of both genders. swimsuits in certain instances are considered optional. swimsuits can be associated with parties in aquatic conditions. swimsuits are used in water sports. swimsuits are associated to hot and sunny  weather.

The first topic was a silly topic at first glance but with the comparative approach a poetic appearance can be formed while an argumentative approach led to a negative feeling that was against confetti.

I was surprised with the different attitude an argumentative response to a topic could be so different than a description or association. With the swimsuit topic a very strong point against objectification that swimsuits promoted.  In the topic of confetti a point against the mess confetti makes and how difficult it was to clean was made. While it was surprising the argumentative approach proved to be the most interesting when talking about a well-known topic because people have their own opinions and would provide their response.

Different strategies were required when writing in different perspectives. if you wanted to describe it you focused on what it looked like and less about the issues behind it.
-This allows you to see different aspects of a topic.
-If you wanted to compare the subject you can relate it to different things and you can use the relations in a discussion.

What sorts of pre-writing have you used successfully in the past

In the past I have used many different forms of pre-writing, from filling out a outline to putting everything on paper and going back and fixing it. I found that I do not use any one form of pre-writing but a little bit from different kinds to achieve success. First I start with a mix of outline and spitting out words. involved writing out your basic ideas first in groups. Then I would go back and edit and form my thoughts into cohesiveness. with the main ideas split on their own I expand upon each of them with relevant information and adding secondary thoughts that were edited out. then the introduction and conclusion are written with highlights that allow a quick summary.

Group Discussion "What must you do to get an A on paper #1"

In order to get an “A” on this first project, these early blog posts that we create should play an integral part in the development of the final paper. Each of the responses we give to the various assignments during this section should somehow feed into the final paper, building on our knowledge base. When the time comes for us to finally assemble our first project we should be able to use this collected works to streamline the writing of the paper.

For example the first few readings showed different writing styles and from this small body of works we can help decide on a method and style of writing. For example both “How I Learned to Program Computers” and “How I Learned to Live Google Free” used a strongly chronological style narrative, with the former outlining his experiences based around the websites he had built and how each one built onto his foundation of knowledge. Something else that both showed was language could help to endear or alienate the audience. During the in-class discussion a number of people either liked or disliked one of the two papers in part due to the level of technical jargon or if the reader felt like they were being talked down to. Considering the audience that the paper will be targeted toward can help to avoid alienating the audience in order to keep them engaged during the course of the paper.

The first two articles, "How I learned to Program computers", and "How I learned Google Free", followed a more step by step progression, whereas the last reading "Learning to Read" came across more as a journey. There is far more emotion than the former readings, making it more evocative. The step by step nature of the first two are easy to digest and there goal is simply stated in the heading. "Learning to Read" is a little deeper than just the topic at hand.
